Video-mapping illuminates Florence's Ospedale degli Innocenti for Inverno Fiorentino

As part of the 79 events of Inverno Fiorentino, a digital festival promoted by the Comune di Firenze in December 2020, the video-mapping show 'Rinascimento Digitale' projects onto the facade of the Ospedale degli Innocenti on Piazza della Santissima Annunziata. The show runs daily from 6 PM until January 6. Conceived by the Bright Festival team, which debuted in Florence in 2019 focusing on digital arts, the projections were selected via a national call for under-35 digital artists. From 72 submissions, works by Edoardo Berti, Emanuele Plicato, Davide Finazzi, and Alessio Bianciardi were chosen. The mapping evokes Dante ahead of the 700th anniversary of his death and references Florentine artworks like Michelangelo's David at the Galleria dell'Accademia. The projections are designed to complement the architecture of Filippo Brunelleschi's building, commissioned by the Arte della Seta in 1419, now home to the Istituto degli Innocenti and Museo degli Innocenti.
