VID 2026 in San Servolo uses water as design lens
The seventh iteration of VID – Venice Innovation Design 2026 is set to take place on May 23–24 at San Servolo Island, a site with a rich background as both a monastery and a psychiatric hospital. This event will bring together architects, designers, and innovators to explore the significance of water in public spaces, sustainability, and the future of design. Giulio Lo Iacono will present on SDG 6, while research by Gaetano Cascini and Niccolò Becattini will examine rainwater reuse. Notable speakers include Antonio Perazzi, Giampaolo Nuvolati, Antonella Andriani, Paolo Fantoni, and Maurizio Sobrero. Since 2018, VID has contributed to the renovations of San Servolo, including a new amphitheater designed by Mario Cucinella, with the island aiming for energy self-sufficiency by 2026.
