institutional · 2026-04-20

Victoria Miro will launch a new gallery in Venice's San Marco district on 10 May 2017. The inaugural exhibition features Chris Ofili's 'Poolside Magic,' presenting his pastel, charcoal, and watercolor works on paper together for the first time. The gallery occupies the former Galleria il Capricorno, founded by Bruna Aickelin in 1971. Miro expressed gratitude to Aickelin for entrusting her with the space, noting their discussions about the gallery's legacy of championing contemporary art over five decades. She looks forward to offering artists the chance to exhibit in this inspirational setting.
