Victor Wang named director of Artspace Sydney

Victor Wang will take on the role of director at Artspace in Sydney starting in autumn 2025, succeeding interim executive director Michelle Newton. Previously, he held the position of executive and artistic director at M Woods Museum in Beijing and Chengdu since 2019, where he curated exhibitions featuring artists such as Ann Veronica Janssens, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Salman Toor, and fostered partnerships with institutions like Tate Modern and The British Museum. Established in 1983 as an artist-run gallery, Artspace settled into its permanent location at The Gunnery, Woolloomooloo, in 1992. Wang will manage various initiatives, including exhibitions and international collaborations, following a $19.2 million renovation of the heritage-listed building. He expressed a vision for Artspace to evolve into a hub for innovative ideas and cultural connections.
