Victor Man's First Italian Retrospective Among Four Shows at Sandretto Re Rebaudengo

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin opens four exhibitions simultaneously. Victor Man (Cluj, 1974) presents his first Italian retrospective, 'Eyelids, Towards Evening,' curated by Eugenio Re Rebaudengo, featuring nineteen portraits exploring the relationship between face and light in crepuscular atmospheres. The installation immerses two rooms in semi-darkness to evoke intimate viewing akin to a collector's cabinet. Works depict family and friends in domestic settings, suspended between sleep and wakefulness. Alessandro Rabottini contributes a text. Lawrence Abu Hamdan (b. 1985) presents 'Air Pressure (A diary of the sky),' a video installation documenting Israeli aviation incursions into Lebanese airspace, winner of the third Future Fields Commission in Time-Based Media, curated by Irene Calderoni and Amanda Sroka. Diana Policarpo (Lisbon, 1986) shows 'Liquid Transfer,' a three-channel video on genetically modified rye, winner of the Illy Present Future 2021 prize, curated by Bernardo Follini. The group show 'Backwards Ahead' features ten works from the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Collection selected by Bernardo Follini and Irene Calderone, exploring time, history, and proof through works by Kiran Subbaiah, Simon Starling, Slavs and Tatars, Paul Graham, June Crespo, Josh Kline, Andra Ursuţa, Liz Glynn, Goshka Macuga, and Yinka Shonibare.
