Vico Magistretti Centenary: Global Exhibitions and Digital Archive Launch
The Fondazione studio museo Vico Magistretti has digitized 65% of the architect-designer's works, preserving sketches and revealing his conceptual method. The digital archive, organized by client, includes ten thematic paths to unify his architecture and design practices. An English version of the site will launch in February, funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For the centenary, a traveling exhibition started in Cologne, with stops in Stockholm, Metz, Strasbourg, Prague, Berlin, and New York. On March 20, Italian Design Day, 100 institutes worldwide will host small shows. On April 9, the foundation opens '1 10 100 Vico Magistretti' recreating his studio with original furnishings and archival materials on Milan and Italian design. From April 21, 'Storie d’oggetti' in Milan's via Leopardi features 12 out-of-production objects reinterpreted by ECAL photographers. The major exhibition at Triennale Milano, curated by Gabriele Neri, opens April 19, showcasing unpublished architectural drawings across his career. An international conference in autumn will discuss archival heritage accessibility. The foundation aims to expand the digital archive to full coverage and open it as a research center.
