Vicky Polak's Solo Show in Venice Explores Body, Memory, and Territory

exhibition · 2026-08-17

From July 3 to August 29, 2026, the gallery 10 & zero uno located at via Garibaldi Castello 1830 in Venice will present a solo exhibition titled I DREAMT THE STREETS WERE MADE OF WATER by Vicky Polak, curated by Julia Terzano. The exhibition includes photographic series such as 'Seismic Gestures' and 'Topographies of Ritual,' set in geologically important landscapes. Accompanying the exhibition is an essay by Chiara Celoria, 'Il femminile respira terra.' Polak’s latest series, 'Offerings to Crystalline Waters,' showcases her four-year practice of casting coins into the lagoon. Celoria's analysis links Polak's art to Peter Weir's 1975 film 'Picnic at Hanging Rock,' exploring themes of memory, nature, and belonging through the figure of the witch.
