Vicky Lau's New Tate Restaurant in Hong Kong Opens with Elegant Interiors by Chris Shao

architecture-design · 2026-08-03

On 4 August 2026, Chef Vicky Lau will launch her new establishment, Tate, in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, close to her previous two-Michelin-starred venue, Tate Dining Room, which has since closed. Spanning 5,500 sq ft, the restaurant accommodates 20 patrons, with over 60% of the space dedicated to back-of-house operations. Chris Shao designed the interiors, which harmoniously combine food, architecture, and hospitality. The exterior resembles marble, leading to a ceramic arch at the reception. Inside, soft hues, bespoke furniture, and a spiral staircase leading to a private dining area for 12 are featured. The kitchen is equipped with a Korean charcoal grill and a gas wok, with inaugural offerings including 'Ode to Pigeon.' The address is G/F, 68 Lok Ku Road, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong.
