VICE VERSĀ: Castello Maniace and Augusta Cement Factory in Dialogue
The multimedia project VICE VERSĀ, originating from Alfredo Pirri's installation PASSI at Castello Maniace in Syracuse, expands into a performance, video-sound installation, and experimental record. Curated by Helga Marsala, it connects the historic castle with the Augusta cement plant, one of 13 Buzzi Unicem facilities in Italy. Workers visited Pirri's installation, interacting with a mirrored floor and a stone catapult sphere. Filmmaker and musician Pietro Leone created a two-channel video juxtaposing both sites. An audio disc, produced with Dario Frasca, samples environmental sounds from factory and castle. The presentation is scheduled for May 20 in Casale Monferrato at the Paraboloide, a former clinker warehouse being restored into a cultural center with support from the municipality, Buzzi Unicem, and the association 'Il Cemento'.
