VIAPADOVAMONDO Contest: Design the Visual Identity of Milan's Tunnel Boulevard

T12 LAB, in partnership with PULSEE Luce e Gas and under the patronage of the Municipality of Milan, has launched VIAPADOVAMONDO, a contest to create the visual identity of Tunnel Boulevard on Via Pontano in Milan. This stretch of road connecting Viale Monza to Via Padova has become a symbol of multiculturalism, inclusion, and urban regeneration. The Tunnel Boulevard, originally a degraded railway tunnel, has been transformed into an urban art gallery since 2018, featuring works by international street artists. The contest invites students enrolled in national degree courses from Architecture universities, Design schools, or Fine Arts academies to design a landmark featuring the word VIAPADOVAMONDO, which will be illuminated day and night. The winning design will be placed above the tunnel, serving as a new gateway to Milan and conveying a message of inclusion. A jury will evaluate entries based on their ability to represent the neighborhood's identity, multiculturalism, and inclusivity. The top three winners will have their designs displayed in three editions: October 2022 (first place), March-April 2023 (second place), and September 2023 (third place). Submissions are open until September 11, 2022. Elisabetta Bianchessi, President of T12 Lab, emphasized the project's role in reaffirming the identity of a district historically characterized by cultural exchange and diversity.
