Via Margutta Hosts Major Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition
From September 16 to October 16, 2016, Via Margutta, the historic art street in Rome, will present 'Via Margutta scolpisce il contemporaneo.' This outdoor exhibition showcases 13 large-scale sculptures created by renowned Italian artists of the 20th century, including Pietro Consagra and Pericle Fazzini, who have ties to the street. The event is organized by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Italia e Mediterraneo, led by President Emmanuele Emanuele, in partnership with Monogramma Arte Contemporanea, represented by Giovanni Morabito. Curated by Gabriele Simongini, the exhibition aims to celebrate the street's vibrant history from the post-war era to the 1960s, featuring works from notable artists like Arturo Martini and Arnaldo Pomodoro. Many pieces are lent by Nicola Loi of Studio Copernico, Milan. Emanuele expressed his excitement about the project, reminiscing about Via Margutta's role as a cultural hub in the 1960s.
