Via Artis: Open-Air Art Trail on the Dolomites in South Tyrol

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The Via Artis trail on Plan de Corones / Kronplatz in South Tyrol's Val Pusteria features six site-specific installations by local contemporary artists along a former military road. The trail includes works by Judith Neunhäuserer (Broken ice core (lipstick), addressing climate change via a giant lipstick-shaped monolith inspired by glacial ice cores), Andreas Zingerle (Maden, a large cement larva symbolizing transformation), Ruth Oberschmied (ruhend_palsé, linen sheep highlighting tensions between tourism and agriculture), Wilma Kammerer (Verlust, a bus-length deer antler made from recycled aluminum cans), Rina Treml (Terra Preta – Black Diamond, a precarious wooden cube made of smaller cubes representing symbiosis of man and nature), and Helmut Pizzinini (Urrà! Crocus! Urrà!, a corridor of giant wooden crocuses promoting sustainable passage through nature). The trail is accompanied by QR codes for information. The article was written by Stefano Paolo Giussani for Artribune.
