Versailles and Palais de Tokyo Collaborate for 10th Anniversary Contemporary Art Show

The Palace of Versailles is marking a decade of its contemporary art initiative with a new exhibition titled Voyage d'hiver, co-curated alongside the Palais de Tokyo. This exhibition departs from the traditional solo showcases, instead presenting a collective display featuring 22 artists throughout the Petit Parc's bosquets. The curatorial team comprises Alfred Pacquement, the former head of the Centre Pompidou and current director of the contemporary art program at Versailles; Jean de Loisy, president of the Palais de Tokyo; and curators Yoann Gourmel and Rebecca Lamarche-Vadel. Commissioned by Catherine Pégard, president of the Château de Versailles, Jean de Loisy developed this winter exhibition, which will be open from October 21, 2017, to January 7, 2018, coinciding with FIAC week. Notable artists include Dominique Petitgand, John Giorno, and Ugo Rondinone. The program originated in 2008 under Jean-Jacques Aillagon with artists like Jeff Koons and Takashi Murakami, and Versailles sees over 10 million visitors each year.
