Verónica Vázquez and Marco Maria Zanin at Torre delle Grazie, Bassano del Grappa

The exhibition 'Le Opere e i Giorni' at Torre delle Grazie in Bassano del Grappa pairs Uruguayan artist Verónica Vázquez (b. 1970, Trienta Y Tres) with Italian artist Marco Maria Zanin (b. 1983, Padua). Both artists repurpose objects as simulacra of embodied memory, suspended between past and present. The title references Hesiod's ancient Greek poem, which criticized contemporary men and advocated daily labor as a path to improvement. Vázquez's sculptures assemble preexisting materials like wood, metal, and paper, stripping them of functionality to convey deep social and civic concerns of Uruguay, while appearing as universal artifacts charged with potential transformation. Zanin's photographs alternate between documentary shots of rural Veneto and allegorical constructions, where agricultural objects acquire a secular, archetypal sacredness evoking modernist love for extra-European iconography. The show is promoted by Marignana Arte in collaboration with Piero Atchugarry Gallery, inviting viewers to reconsider action in a digital, immaterial society through a temporality that values communal memory and identity.
