Verona's GAM opens 'Prima Parete' space for private donations

The Galleria d'Arte Moderna (GAM) Achille Forti in Verona has launched 'Prima Parete' in the Sala Scacchi at Palazzo della Ragione, featuring artworks sourced from private donations. Curator Patrizia Nuzzo's project underscores the significance of contributions from private benefactors to public collections. Running from January 13 to February 8, 2026, the opening exhibition includes three pieces by the Veronese artist Silvano Girardello (1928-2016), which were donated by his family in 2023. Culture councilor Marta Ugolini highlighted the vital role of private donations for civic museums. Palazzo Forti, which was donated in 1935 and reopened in the fall of 2025, previously showcased two contemporary art projects during Art Verona. The GAM relocated to Palazzo della Ragione in 2014 following the restoration of Palazzo Forti in 2000. Admission to the exhibition is part of the GAM ticket.
