VERA: A Photographic Map of Rome's Independent Art Spaces
Damiana Leoni, a curator and VIP representative for Art Basel, has introduced VERA, a photographic volume that showcases eight independent art spaces in seven neighborhoods of Rome, highlighting 54 studios and 70 Italian artists. The title, derived from the Latin plural for 'spring,' will be released on December 12, featuring contributions from artist Luigi Ontani and portraits taken by assistants of Claudio Abate. This initiative began during the pandemic, with studio visits conducted by Leoni, assistant Marta Scotti, and Emma Rosi. The project team comprises Giuseppe Armogida, Mohamed Keita, Alessandro Giannì, Salvatore Nuzzi, Eleonora Cerri Pecorella, and Giulio Cederna. Published by Quodlibet, the book includes works from various photographers. An exhibition titled 'The Milky Way Vera' is set to open on December 16 at GAM di Via Crispi.
