Venus Lau appointed director of Museum MACAN

The Museum MACAN in Jakarta, Indonesia's premier museum for international modern and contemporary art, has appointed Venus Lau as its new director. Lau, who is an independent curator and writer from Shanghai, has held various significant positions, including art strategic advisor for Modern (Meta) Media Group, artistic director at K11 Art Foundation, and curator at Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing. Additionally, she is a cofounder of LEAP magazine. Fenessa Adikoesoemo, chairwoman of the MACAN Foundation, commended Lau for her dedication to contemporary art in Asia and her talent for enhancing cultural engagement. Lau officially began her new position on 1 February 2024.
