Venice VR Returns with 40 Immersive Works Across Three Sections

The Venice Virtual Reality section of the Venice Film Festival returns to Lazzaretto Vecchio island for its second edition, featuring 40 works divided into Theatre, Installations, and Stand Ups. The exhibition runs the full festival duration (August 28 to September 8, 2018), with public access from September 4. A jury including Susanne Bier, Alessandro Baricco, and Clémence Poésy awards prizes in three categories: Best VR Immersive Story, Best VR Experience for Interactive Content, and Best VR Story for Linear Content. Standout works include Tales of Wedding Rings VR by Sou Kaei, Battlescar by Nico Casavecchia and Martin Allais with narration by Rosario Dawson, Kobold, The Last One Standing VR, Crow: The Legend by Eric Darnell, Shennong Taste of Illusion by Li Mi and Zheng Wang, and Arden's Wake: Tide's Fall. The Installations section features Spheres: Chorus of the Cosmos by Eliza McNitt with Patti Smith, Eclipse, Awawena with an Amazonian shaman, VR-I, and X-Ray Fashion by Francesco Carrozzini. Theatre highlights include Metro Veinte: Cita Ciega, a behind-the-scenes of Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs, and Ghost in the Shell: Virtual Reality Diver by Higashi Hiroaki.
