Venice Summer Outdoor Cinema Season Ahead of 79th Film Festival

As the 79th Venice International Film Festival approaches, multiple outdoor cinema events are taking place across Venice and its surroundings. The Cinemoving project, running from July 14 to September 24, 2022, brings a mobile cinema truck to 60 locations including Mestre, Favaro, Lido, and Pellestrina. New for 2022 is 'Lido in spiaggia', a five-Friday series on the beach featuring films like Hayao Miyazaki's 'Howl's Moving Castle' (Golden Lion for Career 2004), Emir Kusturica's 'Black Cat, White Cat' (Silver Lion 1998), and Mira Nair's 'Monsoon Wedding' (Golden Lion 2001). At Campo San Polo from August 14-27, 'Uno sguardo sull'Europa' presents European films in original language with Italian subtitles, including works by Jacques Demy, Agnès Varda, and a short film celebration 'In Dreams'. The 42nd edition of 'Cinema sotto le stelle' in Marghera runs until September 4 with 29 films, including Oscar winners like 'Dune' and 'Encanto', plus films by Clint Eastwood, Steven Spielberg, and Giuseppe Tornatore. 'Cinema Galleggiante – Acque Sconosciute' takes place from August 25 to September 10 on the Giudecca Canal, featuring films, performances, and a new sound installation by Alessandro Sciaraffa on September 16-18.
