Venice's Dorsoduro Museum Mile relaunches with discounted tickets
Five major cultural institutions in Venice's Dorsoduro district have relaunched the Dorsoduro Museum Mile, a collaborative circuit originally established in 2015, offering discounted entry to visitors holding a paid ticket from any participating venue. The initiative aims to counter the tourism crisis that has emptied the city of mass visitors. The circuit spans eight centuries of art history, from ancient collections at Palazzo Cini—housing works by Beato Angelico, Filippo Lippi, Sandro Botticelli, and others—to the Gallerie dell'Accademia, which holds the world's most comprehensive collection of Venetian art from the 14th to 19th centuries, including masterpieces by Bellini, Mantegna, Tiziano, and Tintoretto. Also included are the Peggy Guggenheim Collection at Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, featuring 20th-century avant-garde works by Picasso, Kandinsky, Magritte, and Pollock, and the François Pinault Foundation's dual venues Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana, which alternate thematic exhibitions and solo shows of contemporary artists. Bruno Racine, Director and CEO of Palazzo Grass–Punta della Dogana, stated that the relaunch reflects a collective response to the crisis, offering visitors a chance to trace art history through public and private collections in one of Venice's most evocative areas. Discounts also apply to membership card holders of partner institutions. Visitors should check each institution's website for updated tariffs and Covid-19 regulations.
