Venice Middle School Hosts Contemporary Art Project During Biennale

exhibition · 2026-05-22

During the 61st Venice Biennale, the project 'one touch of nature makes the whole world kin' transforms the active Scuola Secondaria di I grado Pier Fortunato Calvi into an exhibition space from April 23 to May 23, 2026. The initiative is a collaboration between the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, the School for Curatorial Studies Venice, and the Istituto Comprensivo Dante Alighieri. Paintings, sculptures, and participatory works by Accademia students, selected via open call, are installed in classrooms and corridors. The school continues regular classes in the morning, while afternoons open to the public. A performance series 'We Travel To Know Our Own Geography' is curated by KUBORAUM Editions, featuring international artists including Tianzhuo Chen (aka ASIANDOPEBOYS), Siko Setyanto, Cosimo Damiano, Emiliano Maggi, Frankie & Kelman Duran, Joshua Serafin, Romain Azzaro, Kianí del Valle & Ziúr, and Vinicius Jayme Vallorani. The educational program 'Ecosistemi' involves middle school students. The project is curated by students of the 33rd edition of the Course in Curatorial Practices and Contemporary Arts at the School for Curatorial Studies Venice, coordinated by Francesca Fialdini. The School for Curatorial Studies Venice was founded by Aurora Fonda and Sandro Pignotti in 2004. Admission is free.
