Venice Film Festival: Giornate degli Autori 20th Edition Program
The 20th Giornate degli Autori (GdA) is set to take place during the Venice International Film Festival from August 30 to September 9, 2023. This year's event is significant as it is the first without its founder Andrea Purgatori and co-founder Citto Maselli. The visual theme showcases Anna Franceschini's artwork titled "Doposole." Under the guidance of artistic director Gaia Furrer, the lineup includes 10 films in competition, 7 special events, 8 titles for "Notti Veneziane," and 4 Special Screenings at the Casa degli Autori. A vintage poster exhibition will celebrate "100+1: cento film e un Paese, l'Italia." Additionally, two works pay tribute to poet Patrizia Cavalli: a short film by Céline Sciamma and a documentary by Annalena Benini and Francesco Piccolo. The overarching theme is "bivio" (crossroads), highlighting the concept of choices.
