Venice Civic Museums Restructure Without Director
After Gabriella Belli's term ended on August 31, 2022, the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia decided against hiring a new director, even though cultural professionals suggested a public hiring process. Instead, they'll roll out a new structure with two interim areas. Chiara Squarcina will head the Area Attività Museali, which will handle exhibitions, research, and collections. Meanwhile, Mattia Agnetti will oversee the Area Servizi Centrali, focusing on admin, IT, security, HR, and business development. A Direzione Committee will meet every two months, and a Scientific Committee is also being planned. President Mariacristina Gribaudi mentioned that this change is aimed at boosting collaboration and supporting the upcoming 2023-2024 programs, including projects at Forte Marghera. The foundation manages eleven museums, including Palazzo Ducale and Museo Correr.
