Venice Biennale 2023: Art Meets Cuisine in Restaurant Collaborations

The 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale, opening May 20 under curator Lesley Lokko's theme 'The Laboratory of the Future,' has spurred numerous satellite events across the city, including unusual venues like restaurants. The project FAME | Arte e tradizione, organized by Venice Underground Artist and No Title Gallery, pairs contemporary art with dining at Hostaria Bacanera and Vittoria 1938 on May 19 and 20. Chefs Sebastiano Bollani and Nicolò Trento create special menus inspired by works of Andrea Mario Bert, exploring how visual art influences culinary perception. Meanwhile, Ocean Space hosts the second edition of Tavole Conviviali, curated by The Tidal Garden, focusing on 'Suolo Sapido' (Savory Soil). After a May 6 inaugural event exploring Venice's edible shores, the series continues through May with public meals and discussions involving chefs, producers, and academics. On May 26, a performative walk with Gaia Ginevra Giorgi is scheduled. The Biennale runs until November 26.
