Venice arrives on Minecraft to educate youth on environmental issues

M9 – Museo del ’900 has launched 'Climate Hero', an educational initiative on Minecraft Education Edition that teaches young players about ecology and territorial preservation. In the simulation, users cultivate urban gardens, issue fines to polluting vehicles, and restore proper exhaust gas usage. Venetian gondolas serve as a 'gondola sharing' service for commuters traveling between the mainland and the lagoon. Scientific director Luca Molinari explained that the project began three years ago when M9 decided to experiment with Minecraft as a versatile platform for teaching subjects from math and history to civic education and art. The initiative aims to raise awareness among younger generations about environmental issues through immersive gameplay.
