architecture-design · 2026-04-19

From 10 May to 23 November 2025, Carlo Ratti will oversee the 19th International Architecture Exhibition titled 'Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective,' which will include 66 national pavilions and over 750 contributors. Ratti emphasizes a transition in architecture from merely mitigating to adapting to climate challenges. The US Pavilion, designed by Marlon Blackwell Architects, Stephen Burks Man Made, D.I.R.T. studio, and TEN x TEN, features a distinctive blue canopy and focuses on porches. The British Pavilion, curated by Kabage Karanja, Stella Mutegi, Owen Hopkins, and Kathryn Yusoff, titled 'GBR – Geology of Britannic Repair,' explores colonial connections through installations made from agricultural waste. Additionally, the Belgian Pavilion, 'Building Biospheres,' directed by Bas Smets and Stefano Mancuso, utilizes 200 subtropical plants for climate management. The Uzbekistan Pavilion highlights the Sun Institute of Material Science.
