Venetian curator Paolo De Grandis dies at 67

Paolo De Grandis, a renowned curator from Venice, passed away at the age of 67 following a prolonged struggle with cancer. He was born on July 4, 1957, in Venice and relocated to the United States during the 1970s, influenced by Silvia Kennedy. In 1984, he co-curated the groundbreaking "Quartetto" at the 41st Venice Biennale, which included artists like Joseph Beuys, marking the event's inaugural collateral showcase. He worked alongside Germano Celant on an Arte Povera exhibition at MoMA PS1 and oversaw collateral pavilions for the Biennale. In 1997, he established OPEN during the Venice Film Festival. His firm, PDG Arte Communications, facilitated 132 exhibitions at the Biennale, welcoming new participants from various nations. Since 2016, he co-developed "From La Biennale di Venezia & OPEN to Rome."
