Veiled Void: A Multigenerational Townhouse in Surat by ROOMOOR

architecture-design · 2026-05-14

ROOMOOR has finalized the construction of Veiled Void, a 6,500-square-foot multigenerational townhouse located in Surat, India, which is centered around a central void. This project, completed in 2025, was overseen by architects Mahendra Gusain and Dhruv Gusain, with design contributions from Miwa Negoro, Dhaval Modi, and Mayank Rangani, along with interns Aditya and Mansi. Jainee Gusain provided the photography. To address the challenges posed by narrow plots and limited open spaces, the home is designed to focus inward. The living areas are organized in an L-shape around a vertically carved core that serves as a light well, ventilation shaft, and social hub.
