Vegan Design: Erez Nevi Pana's Radical Material Ethics at Salone del Mobile
At the 2018 Salone del Mobile, the exhibition 'Vegan Design – Or the Art of Reduction' curated by Maria Cristina Didero and produced by 5vie art+design introduced Israeli designer Erez Nevi Pana to an international audience. Nevi Pana, born in 1983 with a master's from Eindhoven, advocates for a design practice free of animal-derived materials, a commitment sparked by witnessing a goat kid being taken from its mother. His work explores vegan alternatives: the 'Salt' cycle uses a custom vegan glue and Dead Sea salt crystallization on wooden stools; the 'Wasted' collection in India employs bamboo and seeds; and 'Peace Silk' uses cocoons abandoned by butterflies. The exhibition runs until April 22, 2018 at Spazio Sanremo in Milan.
