VCUarts Qatar 2026 graduates tackle social fatigue, OCD, and cultural memory
Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) presented its 2026 graduation showcase online, featuring work from 67 graduates across five programs: Art History, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Painting and Printmaking, and Master of Fine Arts in Design. The exhibition includes projects addressing introvert social fatigue (Comma by Hajer Alsayed), a wellness centre for OCD (Threads by Yara Alazab), and an interactive card game on Qatari Majlis etiquette (Fatima AlMuhannadi). Other works explore karak tea's transnational history (Nourhane Tarroun), the Thawb Al Nashl ceremonial dress (Haya Ali AlThani), mosque loudspeakers as auditory markers (Noora Hassan Alderham), a Philippine folklore video game (Julianne Eden Pagulayan), watch dials inspired by the Kuwaiti invasion (Mariam Al Hashemi), a space for expatriate mothers (Fatima Al-Haddad), sparkler animations for anxiety (Tarishah Fadilah), ink paintings on presence (Shaymaa Al-khauri), Doha liminal photography (Latifa Alsulaiti), and an archival album of Syrian revolution chants (Asma Mlisan).
