Vatican Museums plan a 'Sistine Experience' multimedia replica

cultural-heritage · 2026-05-05

The Vatican Museums have unveiled the 'Sistina Experience,' a state-of-the-art multimedia reproduction of the Sistine Chapel intended for global exhibition. This initiative marks a modern shift, complementing a national pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale and an upcoming exhibition featuring Andy Warhol. It stems from a four-year partnership with Archimede Arte, which has digitally scanned the museum's extensive 7 kilometers (approximately 170,000 square meters). Barbara Jatta, the director, highlighted the significance of preserving the museum's legacy. The project was created in collaboration with experts from the University of Perugia, the Academy of Fine Arts 'Pietro Vannucci,' D.B. Cad srl, Relevo srl, and Tecla srl, aiming to share the Vatican's cultural treasures worldwide.
