Vasilis Marmatakis: The Designer Behind Yorgos Lanthimos' Iconic Film Posters
Since the release of Dogtooth in 2009, Greek graphic designer Vasilis Marmatakis has been responsible for all film posters created for director Yorgos Lanthimos. His artwork offers fresh interpretations of the films' narratives, characters, and emotional depth. Marmatakis pursued his studies at Camberwell College of Arts and the Royal College of Art during the 1990s and established the design studio MNP in 2003. He was introduced to Lanthimos by screenwriter Efthymis Filippou. Their joint projects encompass Alps (2011), The Lobster (2015), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), The Favourite (2018), Nimic (2019), Η Βληχή (2022), Poor Things (2023), Kinds of Kindness (2024), and Bugonia (2025). Additionally, he contributed to Gucci's Oviparity artbook, Oliver Sim's album Hideous Bastard (2025), and the visual identity for the Acropolis Museum.
