Vasco Rossi's 'Bollicine' Turns 40 with Remix Video

other · 2026-04-26

Vasco Rossi's iconic album 'Bollicine', the best-selling of his career upon its 1983 release, celebrates its 40th anniversary with a remix video. Carosello Records, the historic label of the Zocca rocker, marked the milestone with a special remastered edition, which Rolling Stone Italia ranked first in its list of the 100 best Italian albums. The remix was produced by Vince Pastano, Vasco's guitarist and producer, alongside Marc Urselli, a New York-based sound engineer and multiple Grammy winner who has worked with U2, Lou Reed, and the Beach Boys. Pastano emphasized they approached the remix as musicians, not producers, incorporating references to bands they've long listened to, a tribal opening, and a refined string finale. The video, a motion graphic creation by Mirco Rinaldi under Valentina Gazzoni's supervision, draws inspiration from the original 1983 tour set design, reworking original slides. To achieve authenticity, Arturo Bertusi, a longtime Vasco collaborator directing his eighth video for the artist, used a vintage computer ZX Spectrum connected to a cathode-ray tube TV, filmed with a camera pointed at the screen. The video features references to contemporary video games like Asteroids, Space Invaders, and Pac Man, adapted to the song's slogans, which serve as a generational anthem and ironic critique of 1980s consumerism. The release coincides with Vasco's sold-out LIVE 2024 dates at San Siro and upcoming shows at Stadio San Nicola in Bari (June 25-26-29-30).
