Various Others 2026: Bodies in Transition and Persian Miniature Inspirations

festival-fair · 2026-05-18

The ninth iteration of Various Others commenced in Munich, showcasing exhibitions centered around bodies in transitional phases. At Jahn und Jahn, viewers could admire Jana Schröder's vibrant paintings alongside works from Willem de Kooning created between 1968 and 1972. André Butzer's eleventh solo exhibition, featuring 'N-Bilder' and a brushstroke piece, was displayed at Galerie Christine Mayer. Anselm Reyle's large-scale paintings with synthetic resin reliefs were presented by Walter Storms Galerie and Dirimart. Notable works included Elif Saydam's 'Glory' at Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle and Maryam Hoseini's queer diasporic body art at Galerie Deborah Schamoni. Anousha Payne's installation at Sperling featured a walk-in house adorned with batik silk paintings. Max Goelitz curated a trio show with Eva Hesse, Lukas Heerich, and Rindon Johnson. The Museum Brandhorst's 'Carrying' was deemed unconvincing, while Lenbachhaus's 'Ein Ferngespräch' felt overcrowded. Joachim Perez's textile pieces were showcased at project space n.n.
