Vari Architects Transforms Rooftop into aa Market in Chongqing

Vari Architects has completed aa market, a lifestyle market located on the rooftop of an industrial park in Chongqing, China. The project, initiated by the architects themselves rather than a commercial commission, was designed to serve the daily needs of the team, their friends, and the surrounding community. The market is situated above the architects' own studio and was initially conceived as a space for eating, drinking tea, meeting, and relaxing. Over time, it evolved into an effort to revitalize a forgotten rooftop and create a new public interface for urban life. The 4,000 square meter project was designed by Qi Fan, with a design team including Mou Yu, Zhang Xiangqi, Zhang Heming, and Xu Feihong. Landscape design was by Liu Xiang, and content editing by Xu Xiaoyi. The project is documented by photographers IN-FIELD Studio and DID STUDIO.
