Vari Architects Revitalizes Chengdu's Luxe Lakes CPI Island with Mixed-Use Renewal

Vari Architects has completed the Luxe Lakes CPI Island Commercial Renewal Project in Chengdu, China, transforming a cluster of over 20 former villa models into a vibrant commercial and residential hub. The project, covering 7,000 square meters, was finished in 2024 and involved renovating ten existing structures and constructing ten new ones, all integrated with the island's terrain. The design reconfigures the site's axis system and spatial relationships, aiming to activate the connection between waterfront, human habitation, and commerce. The project is part of a broader urban renewal effort to revitalize idle properties on the island within the Luxe Lakes Ecological City. Led by architects Fan Qi and Dingliang Yang, the team included project architects Panao Feng, Chenxin Wang, Handan Tang, Xiaoyu Ding, Mou, and Jun Li. The construction was undertaken by Tutai Construction Group and Dingyu Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., with landscape design by Yudao Landscape and lighting design by BPI Lighting Consultant Design Company. The owner is Chengdu Wide Horizon Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. The project's category is renovation and retail, and it was curated by Han Shuang.
