Vanity Fair Launches MetaVanity Museum in the Metaverse
During the opening days of the 2022 Venice Biennale, Vanity Fair announced MetaVanity, its debut in the metaverse. The project is a crypto art museum shaped like the Pantheon in Rome, developed with Unreal Engine 4 and accessible via the Hadam app or VR headsets. Director Simone Marchetti stated the aim is to build a new mythology for a yet-inexistent religion. The museum features 12 rooms around a floating sphere, including solo shows, a group exhibition with Italian artists Max Papeschi and Fabio Giampietro, and a display of Vanity Fair cover NFTs. Notable artists include Luna Ikuta, Billelis, neurocolor, Quasimondo, Skygolpe, Coldie, and Jesse Draxler. The initiative follows a previous NFT cover sold for $25,000 and the launch of the Vanity Player One avatar. Marchetti collaborated with Etan Genini, CEO and co-founder of startup Valuart. The article also notes the inclusion of Cecilia Alemani as guest editor for the magazine's latest issue, connecting themes from "Il latte dei sogni" with stories of Sharon Stone, Miro, and neuroscientist Giulio Bernardi.
