Vanessa Carlon on Palazzo Maffei's Five-Year Journey

Palazzo Maffei in Verona celebrates five years since its opening in 2020, founded by entrepreneur Luigi Carlon. The museum houses over 650 works spanning 4,000 years, including painting, sculpture, design, ceramics, and AI. The collection reflects Carlon's curiosity and passion for innovation, with strong nuclei in Veronese painting, Futurism, Metaphysics, Surrealism, and Conceptual art. Artists include Balla, Boccioni, Severini, Picasso, Kandinsky, Warhol, Magritte, de Chirico, Duchamp, Manzoni, Burri, Fontana, De Dominicis, Pistoletto, Cattelan, Nannucci, Sassolino, and Manuel Gardina. The museum's museographic project was designed by art historian and curator Gabriella Belli. Director and Vice President Vanessa Carlon highlights collaborations with Teatro Stabile di Verona, Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi di Milano, OMS-Università di Verona (Progetto Minerva), Fondazione Arena di Verona, and local schools. Over 20,000 children and young people have visited in three years thanks to support from Gianluca Rana of Pastificio Rana. The museum team is mostly female, with the oldest member aged 32 and the youngest 25. Future plans focus on strengthening collaborations with young artists.
