award · 2026-04-20

Vanessa Baird received Norway's most significant contemporary art honor, the Lorck Schive Art Prize 2015, which carries a monetary award of NOK 500,000. Her selection came from a four-artist shortlist that included Ane Hjort Guttu, Jana Winderen, and Snorre Ytterstad. Each finalist was granted NOK 150,000 to support the creation of exhibition pieces. Baird's winning series consists of expansive wall drawings named I don't want to be anywhere, but here I am. An international jury featuring Raimundas Malašauskas from Lithuania, Norwegian artist Eline Mugaas, and Jonathan Watkins of the UK's Ikon Gallery made the decision. The Lorck Schive Trust and Trondheim kunstmuseum jointly organized the prize. Works by all shortlisted artists are on view at Trondheim kunstmuseum until February 28, 2016, as part of the Lorck Schive Art Prize 2015: Finalist Exhibition.
