Van Gogh's Starry Night to be released as Lego set

other · 2026-04-27

Lego has announced a new set based on Vincent van Gogh's 'The Starry Night' (1889), consisting of 1,500 bricks and including a mini-figure of the artist. The idea was submitted by Truman Cheng, a 25-year-old PhD student from Hong Kong, through the Lego Ideas platform, where it received over 10,000 public votes. Cheng described discovering that stacking bricks at random intervals resembled van Gogh's brushstrokes, then spent weeks perfecting the composition. The set is the 41st Lego Ideas project to be produced since the program launched in 2018. Lego Art series, launched in June 2020, includes mosaic kits of pop culture icons like Mickey Mouse, Harry Potter, and the Beatles, as well as an Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe set ($120) produced with the Warhol Foundation. The Starry Night set will be available soon.
