Van Gogh's final days in Auvers-sur-Oise celebrated with two new exhibitions

exhibition · 2026-04-24

In Auvers-sur-Oise, where Vincent van Gogh spent his final 70 days, two exhibitions have commenced. The Château showcases 'Van Gogh, Influencer: Legacies in Motion' (running until 3 January 2027), featuring nearly 100 pieces from various artists that illustrate Van Gogh's influence, though no original works are included. Highlights consist of Léonide Bourges' 'Church at Auvers' and Charles-François Daubigny's 'Woman crossing a Field.' Meanwhile, at the Maison du docteur Gachet, 'Gachet, the Talent of Father and Son' (open until 2 August) exhibits creations by Dr. Paul Gachet and his son, such as 'The Red Roofs and Hill' and 'Bouquet of Peonies.' The Auberge Ravoux, where Van Gogh passed away, remains accessible until 22 November. He arrived on 20 May 1890 and died on 29 July, being laid to rest alongside Theo.
