exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has opened a major retrospective titled 'Van Gogh in Auvers. His Final Months,' dedicated to the artist's last period. The exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, features 50 paintings and over 20 drawings, including works from the museum's own collection and loans from other museums and private collections. Among the highlights are 'The Church at Auvers-sur-Oise' from the Musée d'Orsay and 'Portrait of Adeline Ravoux' from a private collection, exhibited for the first time in the Netherlands. The show also includes a series of ten landscapes, such as 'Fields near Auvers-sur-Oise.' Van Gogh arrived in Auvers-sur-Oise on May 20, 1890, after leaving Saint-Rémy on May 16. In the two months before his death, he produced over 70 works, painting nearly one per day. The exhibition runs until September 3, 2023.
