Van Cleef & Arpels Opens Dubai Boutique with Ballet Heritage Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-22

A new boutique has been launched by Van Cleef & Arpels on the boulevard of Dubai Opera, which includes a Patrimony Gallery showcasing the brand's inaugural heritage exhibition in this location. This exhibition highlights the Maison's enduring relationship with dance, rooted in a 1940s encounter in New York between Claude Arpels, the founder's nephew, and George Balanchine, the co-founder of the New York City Ballet. Their partnership led to the creation of iconic ballerina brooches, which, along with floral and butterfly designs, became hallmark pieces. These clips are highly coveted by collectors for their exquisite craftsmanship. Additionally, this collaboration inspired Balanchine's renowned ballet Jewels, debuted in 1967. Van Cleef & Arpels maintains its connection to dance through partnerships with Benjamin Millepied, a former principal dancer at the New York City Ballet, and supports Opéra National de Paris' 3e Scène, an online platform for artists. Alessandro Maffi, Managing Director for the Middle East and India, mentioned that the gallery will showcase the Maison's historical symbols for the first time in the Emirates.
