Valerio Rocco Orlando Wins VII Premio Fondazione VAF at MACRO Rome
Valerio Rocco Orlando, who hails from Milan and was born in 1978, has won the prestigious award at the VII edition of the Premio Fondazione VAF. This exhibition is currently on display at MACRO in Rome until May 29, 2016. His notable work, Niendorf (The damaged Piano) (2008), features two film projections: one shows a broken piano, while the other highlights pianist Michael Nyman’s face and hands, with only atonal sounds coming from Nyman's projection. Orlando earned his PhD in dramaturgy from Università Cattolica di Milano and a master’s in directing from Queen Mary University of London. The jury, led by Klaus Wolbert, also honored Chiara Fumai, Roberto Pugliese, and Michael Fliri for their remarkable contributions.
