Valerie Hillings Named Inaugural Director of Guggenheim Abu Dhabi

Valerie Hillings has been named the inaugural director of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi (GAD) by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, with the museum's grand opening scheduled for December 11. Hillings has deep ties to the project, having previously served as curator and associate director at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York from 2009 to 2018, where she played a key role in GAD’s development and worked with DCT Abu Dhabi on Asian art initiatives. After her tenure at the North Carolina Museum of Art, where she improved its collection, she’s thrilled to return to Abu Dhabi. GAD, designed by Frank Gehry, will be the largest Guggenheim museum, complementing other cultural landmarks like the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
