Valérie Favre's Invisible Worlds at Ignaz and Mischa Epper Foundation
A series of three consecutive exhibitions at the Fondazione Ignaz e Mischa Epper in Ascona, Switzerland, showcases the work of Swiss artist Valérie Favre (born 1959 in Evilard). Curated by Noah Stolz, the shows explore Favre's relationship with psychoanalysis and her ability to render the invisible. The first exhibition focused on archetypal figures in the human-nature relationship; the second examined the organization and disruption of these archetypes. The third, titled "Confirmer l'invisible," features watercolor drawings of Little Red Riding Hood, presented as a medieval polyptych. A central work, "La deuxième Daphnè" (2015), depicts the myth of Daphne through layered, material paint. Favre, a professor of painting at the Universität der Künste Berlin, received the 2024 Prix Meret Oppenheim. The foundation, established after Mischa Epper's death, aims to revive interest in the work of Mischa Epper (born Maria Catharina Quarles van Ufford, 1901–1978), a Dutch-born artist and wife of Ignaz Epper, who was deeply influenced by Carl Gustav Jung. The exhibitions run until October 18.
