Valentino Vintage Takeovers: Luxury Brand Expands Circular Fashion Initiative

market-auction · 2026-04-27

Valentino has launched the second phase of its Valentino Vintage project, coinciding with Milan's Salone del Mobile. The initiative, which began in October 2021, originally allowed owners of Valentino items to sell them back to the brand in exchange for store credit. Now, through Valentino Vintage Takeovers, four renowned vintage boutiques—Madame Pauline Vintage in Milan, The Vintage Dress in Tokyo, New York Vintage in New York, and Resurrection Vintage in Los Angeles—will temporarily become mono-brand stores for the house. Artistic director Pier Paolo Piccioli has also activated a consulting service in collaboration with the maison's archive in Rome, providing buyers with a document detailing their garment's history, similar to an art certificate of authenticity. A third phase is planned, involving partnerships with top fashion schools. The move reflects a broader luxury industry trend toward resale to attract GenZ and Millennial consumers, though sustainability challenges remain. The GFA Monitor report, released at the Global Fashion Summit, warns that fashion must accelerate climate action within eight years to align with UN targets.
