Valentino Catricalà to Lead SODA Gallery in Manchester

Starting January 15, Valentino Catricalà, a 37-year-old curator from Rome, will take the helm at SODA Gallery in Manchester. Established in September 2021 with a £35 million investment from the UK government, SODA is part of Manchester Metropolitan University and boasts a prominent LED screen facade for continuous public exhibitions. Catricalà, who previously served as the artistic director of the Festival Art Media in Rome, aims to emphasize AI, 3D, animation, game design, photography, and UX design, collaborating with renowned organizations such as the Venice Biennale and Ars Electronica. The gallery, designed by FCB Studios, will accommodate over 1,000 students each year and partner with entities like Sony and BBC. Artists like Trevor Paglen and Ian Cheng are expected to be featured, and Catricalà co-edited 'Arte e tecnologia del Terzo Millennio' alongside Cesare Biasini Selvaggi.
