Valentina Tosoni: From High School Teacher to Italy's Top Cultural Podcaster

Valentina Tosoni, a journalist, teacher, and podcaster, has been recognized by Artribune for producing the best cultural podcasts of 2024. In an interview with students from IULM University in Milan, she recounts her 30-year career spanning newspapers, radio, and teaching. Starting as a high school art history teacher in Brescia after winning a national competition in 1994, she later moved to Rome, working with Radio Città Futura and Italia Radio. She joined Radio Deejay under Linus, helping evolve 'Deejay Chiama Italia' with deeper content. In 2007, she left teaching to focus on journalism, and in 2012, she joined la Repubblica, contributing to the cultural insert 'Tuttomilano'. She pioneered podcasting at Repubblica, launching 'Storie dell’Arte' in May 2024, which quickly reached the top 20 on Spotify. In 2025, she introduced 'Storie dell’Arte in Mostra', a monthly podcast featuring artists, collectors, and curators discussing exhibitions. Tosoni also teaches at IED, returning to pedagogy after her high school years.
