artist · 2026-04-27

Valentina Ilardi, a fashion stylist and creative director, has unveiled her inaugural collection under the label VI MMXX. This line fuses elements from New York's underground scenes, 1990s rave culture, rap, Japanese avant-garde, and Roman couture, resulting in a gender-fluid and versatile wardrobe. Notable items feature lace overalls, layered tulle skirts, bombers, modular tracksuits, and bathrobe-inspired pieces crafted from tartan wools, technical fabrics, net, and chenille, incorporating reflective materials and optical effects. Ilardi, an alumna of Central Saint Martins and IED Rome, founded Grey magazine and has worked with renowned photographers. She teaches photography at Sapienza University of Rome and emphasizes that fashion transcends into art when creation and imagery unite. The collection focuses on simplifying styling with adaptable, reversible pieces.
